Consultations focus on assessment, discussion, and guidance. There is no obligation to proceed with treatment.
Many people delay seeking care because symptoms do not feel urgent or specific. However, ongoing or unexplained changes in the body deserve attention.
You may benefit from a specialist oncology consultation if you or someone you care for is experiencing:
Unexplained weight loss
Ongoing fatigue that does not improve with rest
Persistent night sweats or unexplained fevers
New lumps or swelling, particularly in the neck, chest, or underarms
Unusual or persistent bleeding that cannot be explained by common conditions
These symptoms do not always mean cancer. But they do signal that further assessment may be needed. Early investigation often provides more clarity and, in many cases, more options.
A consultation offers a safe space to discuss symptoms, review medical history, and determine whether further investigation or treatment is appropriate.
Oncology care is highly individual and depends on many factors, including diagnosis, stage of disease, overall health, and personal circumstances.
At Nosworthy Oncology, care is centred on:
Understanding your diagnosis and what it means for you
Discussing available treatment options clearly and honestly
Considering both medical effectiveness and quality of life
Providing ongoing guidance as treatment progresses
Treatment experiences and outcomes vary from person to person. These differences are discussed openly so that expectations remain realistic and informed at every stage.
Care is led by experienced physicians trained in adult medical oncology, providing informed clinical assessment and treatment planning.
Prompt attention to symptoms allows for timely investigation, clearer diagnosis, and more appropriate care decisions.
Doctors work closely with specialists across disciplines, including radiation oncology, physiotherapy, and clinical research, to coordinate patient care.
Treatment plans are developed around each patient’s diagnosis, medical history, and overall health, recognising that no two cases are the same.
Patients are encouraged to ask questions and remain actively involved in decisions about their care, with clear explanations provided throughout.
Care continues beyond initial treatment, with ongoing monitoring, review, and responsive medical support.
Cancer care can feel complex. Nosworthy Oncology follows a structured and supportive process to help patients navigate each step with clarity.
This typically includes:
A detailed initial consultation and medical assessment
Review of test results, imaging, and pathology reports
Discussion of appropriate treatment options
Development of a personalised care plan
Ongoing treatment, monitoring, and review
Patients are given time to process information, ask questions, and make decisions with professional support.
Treatment recommendations are made based on individual clinical assessment and may include:
Before any treatment begins, doctors take time to explain the purpose of treatment, potential side effects, monitoring requirements, and expected timelines.
Dr Adam Nosworthy and Dr Owen Nosworthy are specialist physicians and medical oncologists with a shared commitment to patient-centred cancer care.
With years of experience treating patients with cancer, their approach is grounded in early attention, careful assessment, and clear guidance. Consultations focus on understanding each patient’s situation, discussing appropriate options, and supporting informed, unpressured decision-making.
Patients are reminded that they do not have to navigate this journey alone. The right guidance, at the right time, can make a meaningful difference.

We have been through some very dark times with the Nosworthy family — first at DGMC and now at their own practice. Of course, there were moments when I questioned certain treatments or decisions, but that is only natural. When you walk through those doors, you are completely vulnerable, frightened, and often unable to see a way forward. Dr Adam Nosworthy has cured my mother of cancer — twice. Through him, we were referred to the most incredible specialists: Dr Gareth Hide, who performed the mastectomy; Dr Dimitri Liakos, the plastic surgeon; and Professor Christos Profyris, who performed the craniotomy. Truly the best of the best — and all because of Dr Adam Nosworthy. From the moment you enter the practice, you feel cared for. From the front desk, to the bloods department, the pharmacy, accountants, and finally the treatment room — the very place where I watched my mother fight for her life — we were supported every step of the way. I do not have a single bad word to say about the people or the practice. It’s also important to remember that oncology is an incredibly difficult field. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. And when you are losing, it is human nature to look for someone to blame — I know, because I did. I have seen firsthand how deeply this work affects every single person at Nosworthy Oncology, and how much they genuinely care. I will always stand in support of this practice and the people within it. They are compassionate, dedicated, and unwavering in their commitment to their patients.Posted on Sandy GetsosTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. THE ABSOLUTE BEST ONCOLOGY PRACTICE IN MY OPINION !!! Our relationship with Nosworthy Oncology goes back to 2014. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my family and I were devastated. The first time I met Dr Adam Nosworthy, he put my family and I at ease straight away. He asked me if I knew why I was there. My answer was "because we've been told you are the best, and on top of your game" These sentiments still stand true today. He told us every stage of treatment, and so my journey began. The friendly efficient and kind people in the team, from receptionist, accounts lady, treatment room staff, Sammy always our go to lady, Nasima the Operations Manager, to the pharmacist. Always going above and beyond in assisting with Medical Aid and booking appointments for tests, MRI's, PET/CT 's and CT scans. Dr Adam Nosworthy and his amazing team have become family. Dr's don't switch off. Answering mails late into the night. And arriving promptly and fresh in the morning, to help patients fight another battle. I was blessed to be in remission in 2015 and enjoyed almost 10 years free of the disease. Then after getting violently ill after voting in 2024, it seemed to trigger my breast cancer again which metastisized to my brain and lung. Dr Adam Nosworthy ran more tests and a plan of action was developed. His network of referrals and contacts, ranging from neurosurgeon, general surgeons, plastic surgeons and cardiologist are amazing. Happy to say that after a craniotomy and treatment, I am once again in remission. If you are faced with this dreaded disease, I can only recommend the Nosworthy oncologists. Absolutely blessed to have this extended family in our lives. Always going the extra mile with your unwavering determination and support to cure/beat the disease. At the end of 2025 I was blessed to attend our daughter's wedding and welcomed our first grandchild. Which in the beginning of 2025, seemed unachievable. Thank you Dr Adam Nosworthy and team.Posted on Mandy WacksTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Adam and team are caring. Compassionate and helpful. The team at Nosworthy Oncology are always on the ball. They are there to assist with complicated issues and getting approvals from Medical Aids and making appointments for tests and scans. This is a great help to patients who are often feeling lost, afraid and venerable after a cancer diagnosis or relapse. They are also willing to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on in times of pain and weakness. They become part of your extended family. I always receive the best possible care from the team at Nosworthy Oncology. They are in constant contact and can always be approached easily for any issues which they resolve to the best of their ability and as quickly as possible. I have been on this journey now for quite some time and have found that the specialists in this field are mostly quite cold and aloof. This is not the case at Nosworthy Oncology were both Drs Adam and Owen are kind, caring, down to earth and very approachable. They genuinely care for all their patients and are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that they receive the best, most up to date treatment available. I would highly recommend Nosworthy Oncology to anyone who is either starting or continuing their cancer journey. They will receive holistic and empathetic care from the entire team always.Posted on Tamlyn PienaarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Your first consultation focuses on understanding your situation in detail. This includes reviewing your symptoms, medical history, and any available test results, scans, or pathology reports. Your doctor will explain findings in clear language, discuss whether further investigations are needed, and outline possible care pathways. You will have time to ask questions and discuss concerns before any decisions are made.
A referral from a GP or specialist is usually recommended, as it helps provide important medical background. However, you may contact the practice directly to confirm referral requirements and appointment availability.
No. Oncology care is highly individualised. Treatment plans are developed based on your specific diagnosis, stage of disease, overall health, and personal circumstances. No two patients receive identical treatment plans.
Yes. Patient involvement is an important part of care at Nosworthy Oncology. Doctors take time to explain options, answer questions, and support informed decision-making. You are encouraged to take an active role in discussions about your treatment.
Treatment options may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and access to clinical trials where appropriate. Supportive and palliative care options are also discussed when needed. All treatment recommendations are based on clinical assessment and evidence-based guidelines.
Clinical trials may be available for suitable patients. Participation is entirely voluntary and is discussed in detail, including potential benefits, risks, and requirements, before any decision is made.
Appointment frequency depends on your diagnosis and treatment plan. Some patients require regular visits during treatment, while others may be seen less frequently for monitoring. This is explained clearly during your consultation.
If available, bring referral letters, recent test results, imaging reports, pathology results, and a list of current medications. Bringing a family member or support person is also welcome if it helps you feel more comfortable.
It is normal to feel uncertain. Consultations are designed to provide information and guidance, not pressure. You are encouraged to take time to consider your options and discuss any concerns before proceeding.
Billing is handled in line with standard medical practice. Fees may vary depending on the type of consultation, treatment, and care required. Medical aid coverage differs between providers and plans. Our team can assist with general billing queries and help guide you on what information may be required for medical aid claims.
If you or someone you care for has ongoing symptoms, a recent diagnosis, or questions about cancer care, a consultation can provide clarity and guidance. Early attention matters. You do not have to navigate this journey alone.
